We are surprised this has not been done before. A comparison of two Iconic Rolex submariner models also known as the small crowns. Both are so similar but yet so different at the same time. Although there are more than two references of the small crowns s...
Rolex 6204 / 6205, and Tudor 7922, which are truly magnificient no crownguard small crowns. And what about a Red 6536? The 6204 and 6205 came just before the 6536. While the Tudor came a bit later, but during the 6536 production. Having all of them would ...
Nicolas, I like walking slippery slopes. Its more challenging and exciting. But as to your reasoning- I don't find I am walking any slippery slope! I was merely comparing two SC subs, nothing more, nothing less. Not implying that a 6536 is any less import...
Nicolas- I have been given thought to your argument. I am very interested in the 6204 as it is considered the first submariner officially sold by Rolex. What is your opinion on this? A charming watch to own? Even the 6205 is very nice. Is it also on your ...
..I'm bit of a fan of the 5508. Never had one, came very close late last year, but like an idiot, I dithered around to long :-( Until then, I'll just look at these types of posts!! cheers Tony
I never realized just how different the two casebacks are. And I really love that 6536 insert w/o thet 1-15 interval markers. Very clean look. Enjoy both of those great tool watches. V/R Mike
I also never realised casebacks can be so subtle different! As to my enjoying them, I only enjoy one of them (6536/1), the other was lent to me by a friend for comparisons.
I can write a book about it. I have tried not to dither even if I think I am overpaying massively. I have never regretted buying something I spent a fortune on, have only regretted when I stopped bidding ;)
..I was even told when someone else was going to look at it. Foolishly, I just didn't react quick enough. Hey ho, these things happen, and we move on! cheers Tony
as 6536/1 and 5508 have been born from the same concept ..... a light, so wearable, submariner watch. Yes, it's right also that some other references from Rolex and Tudor are similar to them, but if I can say which one is the natural son of the other I wo...
Would you chose the 6536/1 because it is older than the 5508? Is that the primary reason? So perhaps the 5508 is an evolution of the 6536/1 and you prefer the beginning of the evolution? By that logic you would prefer a 6536 over a 6536/1- is my thinking ...
if you are talking about "vintage essence", 6536 is a different planet. For this model you also have to consider that only 100 specimens are supposed to be manufactured over the time of only one year.
Sorry my friend. Unfortunately will not be able to show my new ref. 6536/1 because when I go to bring from the shop the dial was wrong It was a ref. 6538 Sorry again I'll have to keep waiting. The best Juan
The dial is beautiful "wrong but beautiful" it is marked with 200 m=660 ft and it is smaller for ref. 6538 only have 27mm of diameter (the dial only), the rest is 6536/1 correct from I/57. Sorry again...... Juan
