Vintage Rolex for leisure including swimming...help!
Hi all,
I think I'm starting to reach the age to be able to afford a Rolex ;-)
In the current offering, I don't find anything interesting, somehow lacking character and the problem is that I don't know a lot about the vintage models.
Essentialy, I'm looking for a watch that I can wear during sailing, swimming, on the beach, ... So it will be a beater in the true sence.
It would be nice to have a good original (that came with the watch) metal band that can stand the activity (I've seen quite some riveted ones here that don't give a lot of confidence).
I don't really like the "loupe" on the Rolexes, but would not exclude them.
So, I'm not looking for the most sought after model etc, so no astronomical prices...
Any input from all of you would be appreciated to have a first orientation.

You mean the 16660?
Yes,the first came with the painted indexes, like showed on my picture, then, with the glossy dial, circled indexes. Less vintage looking than the painted indexes, though. Let me know if this is what you're looking for. Best, Nicolas

This week I had my 1961 5512 pressure tested, and they would only guarantee it to the depth of 50m. Which is probably enough for every day and the occasional dunk in water but nothing more.
My go to for water action is the 666
Sapphire crystal solid in the water. It has all the vintage attributes as well. All vintage watches can be made water tight the question is one of value and risk ration. Maybe at 5k you don't worry but at 15k it hurts. Better safe than sorry because some ...

The DRSD is top cool ( and in my wish list ) but not enjoyable in the water.
