Rolex

So, a "new" watch from Rolex. Well, not entirely new but certainly with some new features. The Rolex Deepsea D-blue Dial Edition. First, a shot of the watch. The watch is a tribute edition commemorating James Cameron's solo dive to the bottom of the Maria...  

is there a reason for the Green wording.? Cant help thinking if it was red it would be very popular. As usual though whatever Rolex do it's spot on although it's also too big for me unfortunately. Very nice though :) Thanks for the info, Andy.

.....green is the Rolex company colour. Also, if it was red, it would be more reminiscent of the Sea-Dweller....

My dealer is getting one this month on their allocation so I'll get to see it very soon in the flesh. I do love a Rolex..!! Andy.

but as the Deepsea Sea Dweller was not a popular model, I'd say Rolex has a bucketload of inventory it still needs to move. Change the dial color, add a pinch of green to the writing on the dial, and bam! Extra large cases, dial backs and bracelets move o... 

.....they probably paid Cameron to do the dive just so they could do that too. LoL

I have the black dial version and the only rolex I have. I really like the glidelock bracelet, size and the weight. I may take a second look at the new version if the bezel was in blue to make it really distinctive.

and glad to see your son loving the DSSD... I agree 100% with all your advantages and disadvantages...the watch really is too tall and heavy for anyone with less than 7.5" wrist...even with a large wrist, the height of the piece is really a deal killer...... 

... actually had to give a little break to my watch frenzy as well. Will post soon some novelties :P

design. The rather extreme lengths Rolex has to go to to give the Deepsea its 12,800' rating, with its 5mm-thick domed crystal, the super-heavy case, the titanium back, etc., all make the watch needlessly thick and oversized for most wearers, especially a...

Normally I love blue dialed watches, but here I am not overly thrilled! It might be due to the faded blue, it might be the odd green text... Well, this is a watch I need to see in real before giving any final statement... Best Blomman

And now on my actual wishlist. Many thanks for this post. Having not the biggest wrist isn't really an obstacle for me since I'm "Panerai-proved". Only one downer: is the bracelet still so narrow in relation to the width of the case (especially the links ... 

Rolex suddently stopped production of this Deepsea D-blue Dial edition by next year??? Will this change your lukewarm reception of this watch? Just wondering how we respond, based on small production variations by the company... Just what if :)

Some in-the-flesh photos, including macros and wrist shots, have surfaced in the last 24 hours, and the watch looks even better than the press photos. I do think the divided opinions will align along original DSSD/S-D partisan fault lines. Maybe few will ...
