My pick was SBDX013
I kind of like the automatic movement. I was struggled between spring drive SBDB013 and SBDX013. After I visited the shop and have both on my hand, I found the SBDB013 exterior finishing is too shinny for me so I picked the SBDX013. So far 2 years and no problem.

Size wise there is a big difference between the 300 vs 1000? I have a Rolex deep sea dweller that I wear a lot. How does the 1000m compare height wise?
1000m is about 52mmx17mm, automatic ones is a bit larger than quartz ones.
300m's about 48mmx15mm. If you are comfortable with Deep Sea, than weight is not a problem with either one. Besides, 300m has an compatible OEM bracelet, and 1000m only a nice silicon strap. 300m is a better desk diver.
