Are there any dentists in the house?
No offence, but a dentist's chair is not my favorite place to spend a nice afternoon... even though I like stainless steel fittings as much as the next guy.
Thankfully it's only a short visit but it looks like several more are coming in the near future.
Sadly he declined to melt down my antique gold crown and reuse it. I guess I'll have to take it up to my favorite jeweler in Solana Beach and get some trinket or other made from it.
Mhmm Grnmg (dentist has come back with the crown and the temporary glue).

His refusal to use it again is correct
Dental gold alloys are quite touchy. You can't simply mix unknown gold alloys and cast a new crown. The allioy and the "cement mold" where the gold is cast into it must be in harmony, must be "matching". Casting is not as simple as it might look to people...

I always prefer gold and manual labor and craftsmanship over a machine milled crown.

Dentists.... I was hyper fortunate to have an extraordinarily good one as a teenager (forever grateful Dr. Vera!), so that even at present, pushing 40 years of age I have yet to undergo a single tooth repair........ Cheers, Filip
