It's the previous generation of movements, hand-assembled in the Morioka workshops

This is the image that sold me on hunting down one of these watches:

and the review that convinced me to get on it.

STEVEG LAUNCHPAD

At the time ~ 23 years ago, there were very few watch websites, just TImeZone, The Purists and a couple others like this private site that Steve created. No Hodinkee, etc.

And it was tricky to find things -- no Chrono24, eBay was limited and it took cooperation of helpful pals on this site to grab this out of Singapore.

I sent mine back for a service after I bought it, and when I later visited Japan and Grand Seiko, I took it along and the master watchmaker here said he though he had done the assembly and final regulation.

It demands careful consideration when taking its picture, to display its charm to the max. The numerals are embossed, not applied, but that doesn't detract at all from its beauty.

SBGW003 one of 300 from many years ago. I hunted for this for about 3 years after seeing it on SteveG's website. I hope you don't mind that it is missing a date? Cheers, Cazalea ...

I want this watch

One I would love to add to my GS collection. I only saw it come up for sale once in the last 20 years and the price was somewhere in the region of unaffordium

The hands are an unbelievable blue

Look like blued titanium of de Bethune instead of blued steel. A wonderful piece.

Wow beauty!

I really am looking to get a manual GS, as all I ever had was a seiko 007. The new slgw003 released this month fits the bill but can't get too exited, not available until August πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Those hands and numerals really jump out.

So much going on in a relatively unassuming but entirely useful package (engine ain’t bad either, )

Missing a date…

Is one of the features πŸ‘πŸ» Really love the limited GS editions from back of the day, when they were uncommon and quite a bit more imaginative. Not that the current ones are bad but they do follow set patterns a lot more πŸ˜ŠπŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
