What kind of timeframe are you concerned about? If you’re thinking of your grandchildren passing it down to their grandchildren then possibly you may have a point, but I’d suggest there are more significant things that come into play over that kind of period.
Seiko first started producing quartz watches in 1969. Sure, the earliest of the early pieces can be troublesome, but once you get to the mass-produced models starting in around 1972, they are extremely reliable (despite their now almost throwaway value), and spare parts cheap and easy to come by due to the sheer numbers produced.
