It looks like your friend's watch has a steel case. Mine is titanium
Both watches have a unique mecha-kinetic movement known as 9T82.
My later 40th anniversary watch shown in the same thread has the same movement even though its a decade or more newer, and it has one crystal rather than 5 little ones.
Search for 9T82 Seiko on Google Images to see the variety of different models Seiko has released.
BTW Jay Leno has one too, and is frequently wearing it in his "Leno's Garage" videos. The five sundials are distinctive.
