I feel Seiko is a bit late to the party of large sized watches, joining when others are already scaling down. I for one highly appreciate my GSs being under 40mm and am unlikely to go much above 42 (must be a very wearable piece to be considered at all at that size).
As much as I like the movements and the excellently executed ceramic case, I will wait and see if it makes a scaled down appearance - i.e. gets used in a smaller watch.
As for the case, I can only applaud their approach that if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right
