Seiko

I thought I would welcome myself to this forum (hah!) by posting a review of my current favorite Seiko, a 1973 King Seiko 56KS Hi-Beat Chronometer (5626-7041). I imagine you all will learn a little about me from this, and hope it will be at least moderate...  

I really like the index markers raised as they are as well as the Logo. The date wheel is in Japanese so I guess it is not a model that was sold outside Japan. Great report and looking forward to reading more. Thanks Bill

I didn't know about the dings - they weren't visible in the listing photos. But I'm ok with them, since the face and markers were much nicer overall than I expected. Thanks for the kind words!

i had a selection of Grand and King seikos a few years ago and stupidly let them go until i was left with just a 44 King Seiko from 1964. your hi beat has a superb movement, great case design and excellent legibility. i would be proud to wear it if my pro...

Your watch. I am intrigued by the kanji characters in the date window. What does the character currently displayed inthe photo mean?

The Seiko 5600 calibre was their first to feature a bi-lingual day wheel. It has weekdays in English and Kanji, just as many watches have English and French. Since this was a JDM model, I decided to leave it on Kanji. It's fun to see the characters there,...
