Brauner posted a nice world timer lately, a wonderful dream machine for the wrist, allowing us to virtually travel to faraway places on the dial. We started discussing some of those exciting locations but it really does require a fresh thread in my opinio...  

Any particular destinations within the three?

On road trips, deciding during dinner the night before, or breakfast on the day, where to hopefully finish the night 👏🏻 A tad easier in places with adequate infrastructure, so you do not end up sleeping in the car 😉

Did you manage to spot any of the Iriomote cats?

Thailand was by far the most exotic location many years ago. First was Bangkok , checking out some of the local markets, dizzying sky scrapers and a couple cool boat rides. The Hotel Peninsula was one of the most luxurious hotels I’ve ever stayed. Next up... 

Reminding me of our own trip to Thailand many moons ago 😊 The elephant ride through the jungle and across (actually rather down the middle of it) the river was spectacular, as was the commentary of the driver (‘She goes like Michael Schumacher’ 😂). We als... 

Scottish highlands, Phuket, sub Saharan Africa, capri

Sound very nice indeed - and definitely worth exploring. Remember Jeremy Clarkson once quipping that Scotland was the largest race track in the world 😂

First of all, I have traveled extensively throughout North America. Two of the most unique or interesting trips have been to the Northwest Territories (including some dog sledding) and Nunavut (where beluga whale and seal were on the menu). I have travele... 

But would certainly love to experience what you have described! I do remember putrid shark meat and puffin from the menu in Iceland, though 😂 Or the ‘bring your own’ from some of the trips to the Russian far North… ...  

Did a road trip some 18 years ago from Calais to Casablanca, entering Morocco at Ceuta and driving to Casablanca and back. Would have needed a lot more time to do the country proper justice. Might even have some pictures of if I look deep enough in the ol... 

It's a rather predictable list - Portugal, Barcelona, multiple places in the south of France, west Italian coast, Czech Republic, Kaliningrad, UAE, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney, and those are just places that I've never even been to, I'd love to go ...

Saw many more. 30 years ago I spent 3 month in Namibia working with a lawyer in Windhoek. Africa is my big love.

It has been a continent fascinating me since childhood and somehow the ball got dropped for a while, as my wife was less enthusiastic about it. But that might change now, so let’s see. So many places there I would love to see 👌🏻👍🏻

. . . almost forty years ago. Sorry, no pics, but fond memories of a restaurant inhabited by lizards (presumable for pest control), seeing a flying fish fly a few yards away, and riding on the back of a turtle. These days I'm content traveling to Orange C... 

For reminding me of a fun experience in a restaurant on Bora Bora - plenty of pest control lizards (or was it geckos? 🦎), the offer of coconut crabs 🦀 and plenty of sharks swimming past the terrace, where we were eating - fortunately we were not the menu ...

Touristy for sure in the meantime but nice to have seen once. The island itself is small, we took a rental car and you can circle it in the time it takes to enjoy a good coffee 😁 But lazing on an overwater cottage terrace is one of life’s wonderful moment... 

Defining exotic as different I found every-and I mean every-single person there was friendly. Everyone. My bucket list would include French Polynesia, the Azores, the Basque region. ...  

Don’t remember them all being friendly 😊 Really nice destinations, French Polynesia I can definitely recommend 👏🏻
