From the memory archives: during the gas crisis of '73 . . .
. . . it was reported that someone had the extra gas can in his pick-up truck stolen twice. So he labeled the water can 'gas' and the gas can 'water', then filled the 'water' can with gas - plus a pound of sugar.
Sure enough, the next day there was an abandoned vehicle a mile away with a gummed-up engine.
