Vintage cards indeed are beautiful.
I come from a country where the entire history is drenched with on the one hand travel overseas and on the other hand, keeping the sea out to prevent flooding; The Netherlands.
Within our family we have a nice collection of vintage maps (mainly city maps though) and we ourselves also have a few in our house in The Netherlands.
I’m not a collector far from that but I do love them and I can understand the emotion you’ve expressed so well.
You asked for the kind of art purists like. For me that is (in no particular order)
- paintings and especially classic realism and modern abstract paintings
- fountain pens
- cuff links
