... We had just one channel till the 1960´s, then three or four channels only and B&W till 1978! Guess I got my first color TV AND a remote control around 1978/79! Ufff!! I was thirty years old at that time! We didnt´t even dream with Video Tape recording...

a NOKIA TV I had in one apartment I rented in Moscow in 2010. And, much like you, had the same experience. It was pretty uniform for us back then...
Oh yes, back in the 80s.
But they also made rubber boots before that. That company has been reinventing itself for a long time. Once they don't see the potential in an industry, they move on. And they are very good at this.
