The shopping malls are huge and actually very cool to visit and walk around. Mall of the Emirates has the indoor ski area. Plus we found a hidden gem, there's a fantastic casual thai food place in the food court next to the KFC. Yeah I know, I said KFC but if it's still there the food was awesome. Was recommended by the receptionist at the Dusit Thani hotel where we stayed. Dubai Mall and Jumeirah Plaza is worth a visit too.
In the Dubai Creek area take a abra (small boat) across between Deira and Bur Dubai for the gold souks.
If you have time Abu Dhabi is pretty cool too. Last time we went they were building the F1 track and also working on Ferrari world which is now open.

Malls definitely, ppl said Dubai is duty free, really? Is it a good place
for buying watches, handbags? It'll be end of the year, 6N vacation, so still have lots of time to do research. Rgds Raymond

We really didn't go to the malls for shopping. For the most part they are like stores you would find anywhere else in the world. It was mainly to check out the architecture and to see all the unique things like the indoor skiing, the giant aquarium, etc. ...
We went for Thai food.
Remember where the hotel sent us for Thai food, in the mall food court next to KFC. I was mad we were about to have a meal in a mall food court. The meal was made to order and was quite good. Best, JerryW
