I have been out hiking and these Tac Links came in handy. They come in different colors and have another lower profile one called the Grim Loc. Did you get the black ones? -MW

I'm guessing you are using the aluminum carabiners. The bright anodized colored ones are good for high visibility. -MW

this is one which I use to hold up my hammock in the garden - attached to a tree with some climbing rope - and has been outside in all weathers for 18 months..!! I just brought it inside and took a few pics.... It will take 10kN so I think it should hold ...  

Just check them every once in a while (since you are not using it for climbing it's less of a concern) and you should be good to go. -MW
