What's also weird is that they announced this so early, the EOS-1D X won't be available for 6 months. Wonder if Canon feels threatened by rumored specs of the upcoming Nikon.

Mixed feelings
I, and most of the Canon community, expecting a successor of the 5D MK II and Canon announced this camera. On the nice side, the wired LAN Gigabit connection will eliminate, at least for me, the burden that is to eject the CF card, insert on a reader .......

Interesting how the roles have flipped
It used to be Nikon was the one touting a lower-resolution, higher-sensitivity camera and Canon going for MPIX superiority... I'm a fan of this new canon, but i'll have to wait for the next 7d or at least 5d to make any use of it ;( A

The 7D was released in '09 and the 5D in '08. The 5D has done extremely well and still a very capable camera so Canon can hold off on releasing the MKIII. -MW
