This is a question I ponder ...
... And one day will be able to phrase it appropriately for a post on HoMe. I tend to agree with you, but I suspect even for money-no-object billionaires there will be items that remain out of reach because of rarity or availability.
However, I am willing to volunteer my services for a trial to see if I would still appreciate any watch if I could afford ANY watch.

if we were all multi millionaires and could buy any watch we wanted would we appreciate them as much as if we'd worked for them? i really dont think so, although having enough to be comfortable makes you far happier than being destitute. Graham
