A new version of the Marine Chronometer – not sure if I prefer the older lugs and strap look.
I wonder if they feel this look is more acceptable and will increase sales?
Or is it a case of being cheaper to produce?

Perhaps more clients prefer the date? Not everyone who buys a watch is a Purist ;-)
It is an interesting question.
To produce a non date version would be such a simple dial change and virtually without cost (as an option) that you have to think they have done their homework and have reasoned it is not worthwhile. Perhaps that is planned for 175 anniversary in 2021.

After dithering for 10 years over the piece that really grabbed me I have spent the last 2 years on a crusade for one of my grails after learning of it's existence. My patience was recently rewarded. I will post a full incoming thread soon. Marine Chronom...

We don't need to ask Patrik, I was recently given this message directly by the Executive Vice President of Ulysse Nardin. The majority of clients want the date, this is a fact. Does not matter what a handful of PuristS think... sorry to burst any bubbles ...
