Damn the salesman!

What the salesman should have done was to, in the most normal tone of voice, say to your wife that every man deserves a nice gift for the/an/any aniversary - there is always an aniversary coming up as any salesman knows and "that we can make it happen with a single swipe of your card".
You can of course go back there, buy the item and tell your wife that your "boss does appreciate you". That'll put her in her place!
Right now, all I feel is deep pity and sympathy for you. To have been so close, yet not to have acquired.

Hello Gents, I haven't posted here for a long time, since selling my 1846 to Ginger, but yesterday I went into a dealer in LA who had a large Freak exhibit in the front entry hall. I suppose this exhibit is making its way around the world and some of you ...
Great to see such an exhibition.
There were so many iterations, sometimes revolutions around the Freak... It is great to gather all of them. Aaaah, the price point, the dealer gave you a low estimation, because your wife was there. Best, Nicolas

A Freak would sell for ~USD 25K.
