Ulysse Nardin

Hi Nicholas. Basically you ask two questions. The case material and the date.

 

First the date: when I saw the price with a date I didn't mind it as it is truly non obtrusive but I agree it does detract from the true essence of the watch. The whole being of the freak surrounds the movement and the hands. Nothing really should distract from that. Then again I still favor my 1.5. I have admired other iterations such as the blue phantom and the cruiser but I come back to the original as the one and that didn't have or need a date as it doesn't need a crown.

As far as the case material I would have to see it to render a full opinion but I don't see this as a sport watch and I love the added weight of the watch to signify its significance. I am not a lover of all black watch because I do want to be able to read it to a certain degree.

Just my opinions.

But the black titanium Freak is awesome - my favorite so far! And the date is well integrated at least... Another watch for the grail list

Agreed on the Black... I am not a fan of black watches, either. That would make a Freak too trendy, and a Freak doesn't need to be trendy. Now, a polished titanium case... As for the date, we are in full agreement. Best, my friend. Nicolas

the Date reminds me strong of the date-mechanism of the Iwc Fliegers: I don't like this construction, where you see three numbers beside each other. Here looks somehow better than the Iwc, maybe because of the bigger space on the dial. As for the material...
