It is my favorite dress watch.....
It is indeed a "classic" as the name implies. Simple & elegant, with a touch of flash in its styling & with its unique gilloche. Sure, one could quibble about the spacer viewed on the case back, but how many people even are aware of such issues?
I only wear my YG model once or twice a month, but I wear it with pride & admiration. There's a running joke with my wife when we're out, I'll say "Ask me what time it is." She knows I want an excuse to bring out & admire my Grande Classique.
Obviously, I think if you have the chance, reclaim your watch. Good luck!

The MGC is/was one of my favorite watches....
I purchased one as soon as it was available and wore it frequently. I loved the stepped and flared lugs, the (too small) in-house caliber 1400, and the guilloche on the dial that swept outward from the subseconds. Winding the watch was a absolute pleasure...

I own a YG too
I bought the GC 3 years ago, I consider it as one of the nicest classics watch on the market. I do not wear it that often too. Hope to buy another VC in the near future. Best regards, Baxter
