Hello gentlemen,
would like to present my unusual early Vacheron & Constantin Genève officer’s pocket watch with documented provenance to Imperial German cavalry officer Rittmeister Adolf Menzler of Dragoner Regiment “Königin Olga” Nr. 25.
The watch is a silver Savonnette officer’s pocket watch and appears to originate from the short transitional widow period in the early history of Vacheron & Constantin.
What makes the piece particularly interesting to me is the combination of:
early Vacheron & Constantin production
documented Imperial German cavalry provenance
identified officer ownership
military-associated silver officer’s configuration rather than civilia

n luxury presentation
surviving ensemble character with officer’s chain and provenance material
To my knowledge, I have not yet been able to identify another documented comparable example combining these characteristics.
The watch was recently featured with an extensive two-page presentation in a German specialist auction catalogue because of its historical significance.
