Everything appears legitimate. This looks to be a 1950's era vintage with the Geneva Seal engraved on the movement (which is a little unusual and desirable). The dial looks to have some spotting, which is unfortunate.
Matt, if you write to the VC concierge with the reference, case, and movement serial numbers, which you have identified, then he would be able to date the watch for you. You can get his contact info at VC's website.
