All those memories Abel safely locked away in little boxes that tick!
Most of my watches have memories, times I bought them, evenings out with watchmakers, deals I made or most importantly, family memories. It is what keeps them special and in our collections and hearts forever.
That Longines has caught my eye... very nice indeed! The script writing of the Longines is absolutely beautiful.

but after a separate post in HoMe. Sorry! As for the Longines...I have actually seen another in the metal a decade and a half ago here in New Jersey. And about two years ago one came up on Ebay. So it appears not to be an outlier.

Unfortunately he was long gone when I received this....
GAS I suspect is the case maker, as the hallmarks are standard and not import hallmarks. Yes, the dents I hope/imagine are from skiing falls etc. he was the top skier in the British Army back then, rather than the more realistic reality of staggering home...
The oldest in my collection are the twin Ω ref 2242 . . .
. . . ca '43, and separated by just a few score digits between the movement and case numbers. Unfortunately, the Brazilian edition isn't on a strap at the moment, and the other is at my watchmaker's, so I can't take a current photo. Here's a previous shot...
