here is some answer for your question...
hi Granam,
>i dont really know why Omega did it as most
>people when seeing 600 or 30 on the dial would assume incorrectly that it was
>the water resistance and not the movement calibre range. they didnt put
>seamaster 565 on the dial so why did they feel the need to do it with the 600
>and 30?
regarding to your question above, i have read somewhere written from a omega collectior. he said omege issued the "seamaster 30" was to celebrate its first movement which is 30mm in size.
for issuing "seamaster 600", omega was to celebrate a new generation of movement from 500 series to 600 series. in fact, the first "seamaster 600" housed cal.600, but the cal.600 was quickly replaced by cal.601.
in any case, these "seamaster xx" or seamaster xxx" have different meaning behind compared with those watches with "seamaster 120m", "seamaster 300m" or "seamaster 600m" on the dial.
not sure how true of that. but at least it can enrich us more fun during collecting these vintage watches, LOL.
