I enjoy reading about the watches I find. Most of the time the history and background of the time period is more interesting that the mechanical features of the watches, but it keeps my mind occupied.

Through the time we spend on reading about watches and the history behind them we can hide from the daily business. But is even better to get the possibility to share it with others.

What a range of dials! I’m drawn to the simple ones though - the lovely patina of the 1016, and the textures of the GS Snowflake. Both illustrate the value of simplicity and balance

Fantastic selection of watches you are sharing with us this weekend, I like all of them. Your Martin Braun has the very special Moonphase and your vintage Omega looks beautiful.

The Martin Braun is almost 13 years old now and unfortunately the meteorite dial suffered some water / humidity damage aalong the way , but as you said the special feature is the moonphase which fortunately remained unaffected. I never got it repaired as ...

Thanks for the comments ; yes I am a bit of a sucker for dials which talk about time a bit differently , even if they have the same underlying movement. It’s a reminder of what makes this hobby do rewarding 😊

... I don´t own any of these watches in my collection. It´s surprising the creativity of some watchmakers in designing these surprising watches which follow different roads to tell the time. Agree with you that this things are what make our hobby so rewar... 

Thank you so much for the kind words ! Yes , those are two of my favourites also 🙂. The Carlo Ferrara was unique as all its dials had this special way of indicating the hours and minutes separately ( kind of like a Regulator though not quite ! )
