Simple = dull? Simple = puristic!

Dear Ken,

looking at the resonance your "Simple" thread recieved until now, it is evident there are a lot of simplicity loving people browsing this site.
Whereas "simple" may be used in the sense of dull or plain, I prefer to interpret it in the meaning of essential, puristic or classic - hence the public interest here!

In that sense of essence, purity and clarity most people here will find something that describes their affinity to watches, however complicated and sophisticated the inner values of our watches may be.

I had to draw a parallel to string instruments which also have a very puristic look, touch and feel and are masterworks of craftmanship at the same time:

My simple taste rejoices in the classic three hands watch with date (yes, Nicolas, I know that you prefer the no date version for aesthetical reasons !).

Some here showed us their beautiful Pateks, Dufours´, VC´s, Langes, AP´s or GO´s. In my perception the lower scale vintage Omegas also got it very well to be timeless simple watches:

As you can see I have fallen for them .

Next to the watches below there is a jade wedge from 4000-2000 B.C. from the UK, illustrating that simplicity, function and beauty are not an invention of our time and age.
