WristScan

Thanks for organising this WristScan, Captain, and for choosing the theme.

Here are a few of my favorite "boom" things.

Have a great weekend. Best, Emmanuel

1/ First, Portuguese guitar and Fado concerts make me go Boom. I would like Porto's "Ideal Clube de Fado" to be my second home:

Gina Santos (singer), André Ovadia Tavares Mariano (Portuguese guitar, left) & Paulo Faria de Carvalho (guitar, right)

2/ Then the paintings of Joan Mitchell (1925-1990) make me go Boom. I know of no other painter who paints with such a lively yet somehow tragic energy:

Below, A garden for Audrey , 1974

Below, Two pianos , 1980:

In the portrait below, could she be wearing a Louis Cartier Round watch from the 70s?

3/ In watches, some very tiny things make me go Boom, like the spring click in these two references:

Below, the spring click of Xhevdet Rexhepi's Minute Inerte, shaped like the segmental pediments found in the Tribuna room of the Palazzo Grimani di Santa Maria Formosa in Venice:

4/ Finally, the watch that made me go Boom the most is the rose gold Cornes de Vache: I could hardly believe my eyes (photo taken when meeting the watch for the very first time):
