Apologies: No offence meant
maximus,
Thank you for recognising my tongue-in-cheek comments were self-depreciating.
I learnt British dry humour does not translate online.
It was a reflection of my poverty at that time; only able to afford cheap accommodation in a red light district. Descriptions and observations of my street were accurate.....at the time.....I stand by them, without prejudice but also without fear. No offense meant and none should be presumed.
Things have improved since the 1970s and districts like Balsall Heath and Bull Ring have been transformed since the end of the 1990s. There has been much urban ethic cleansing and neighbourhood watch schemes.
This Zenith event was held at The Cube - a landmark building of urban renewal in 2010.
I meant to highlight that Birmingham was (and still is) an engineering heartland of the UK. All the best watchmaking workshops were in Birmingham and the city has its own hallmark stamp for gold and silver case makers.
As you pointed out, it is the UK's 2nd city. Thus, it should not be surprising for watch events for brummie watch lovers to be in Birmingham.
Reports are usually from London so I am encouraging more regional events.
Regards,
MTF
[Slang footnote for non-Brits: 'Brummie' is a colloquial term for the inhabitants, accent and dialect of Birmingham, England. It is also a general adjective.]
