Zenith Defy Classic over DateJust?
I have been looking for the perfect Rolex DateJust for me when I came across this new Zenith. I am totally blown away by its Genta-inspired design that preserves the Zenith heritage. The sparse writing on the dial is a welcome relief from the novels on my Submariner and GMT-M2C.
I need a kids-safe sports/dress watch that I can wear from the office and right into daddy activities, and this seems ideal, especially for the price. My only question is about its lack of a screwdown crown that is on the DJ. Is this a real concern?

I would prefer the DateJust and I already own one vs. the Zenith.
Just a personal thing but I prefer screw down crowns and I think the DJ will hold it's value and appreciate more over the Zenith. I do have a couple of watches without screw down crown but I stay away from water with them. Just my opinion but you asked.

No cyclops all the way. Plus, let's not forget the Zenith is titanium which would be lighter.

Reminds me of the rolex oysterquartz. I really wish Rolex would have kept the oysterquartz case and bracelet design.
Assuming you've looked at a number of Datejust options during your hunt...
...and now that you've scrutinized this Zenith - and seem to be impressed by it - I would say go back and look at your favorite Datejust one more time and I'm guessing your answer will appear. You'll either think the DJ is not as great as you once thought...

I really need to find one in person now, as well as the skeleton version. From a design perspective, this watch is really hitting all my buttons. Cantilevered indices... Wow! I was looking for a more subdued yet distinctive DJ, but this Defy is 'magnetic'...
