The Breguet Tradtion...

Well, there is now one question, as there are 4 Traditions, YG and WG for bthe Automatic Version, and same metals for the Manual Wind...

The Automatic Version:

A bit bigger ( just one mm ) but very noticeable in reality, with a nice and original rotor ...But maybe too big fot the idea I have in mind, while thinking at the Tradition:



Wow this rotor is really impressive!



And even maybe a bit frightening!

I feel less comfortable than with the manual wind, which has perfect volumes ( 37mm ), and which is more representative of what should be a dign " heritiere " of the Breguet Know How...

So, my choice, finally, is the Manual Wind...

It's maybe 2 years that I think about this watch...

" Should I stay or should I go..."...

I will say yes, and comparing the YG and the WG, I'd say YES to the WG one.

Look at the layout of the dial, with this nice contrast between the silver, and these small touches of Blue...

This is really awesome, and even the Golden parts of the movement doesn't disturb me, which I was not sure at all.



This dial has Life, Relief, Elegance, and playing with the light is a real and big pleasure.



This watch has all the Breguet D.N.A, with a nice case bearing some very elegant " cannelures " on its side, and these special lugs.



And the movement is, IMO, much nicer than in the Automatic Version...

Simple, quite sober, without " fioritures "...



A real good trip in the Past.

The last question was to decide between YG and WG...

YG for once was to be considered, for me, as it perfectly fits with the spirit of this watch.

BUT the WG is the only " modern " touch on this Tradition, and, personnaly, even adds some originality, compared to the YG version, which is more adapted...

Now, I know, this Tradition will certainly be my 2d Breguet...

It adds something to a Collection, something which be called " Soul ", " Hommage ", or ...Horological Tradition ".

I have not look at the WG tradition in the way you describe it. I begin to see the nice blue parachute and screws and golden wheels contrasting with the matt silver finishing of the dial. With a blue strap - it will really look sharp on your wrist. Go and get it soon - I can tell it will be the WG for you.

I'm really convinced, now, by this model.

I don't own such a watch in my collection.

It will certainly complete it nicely.

Wearing this Beautiful watch on your wrist makes you immediately think about the H. De Balzac Romans...

As for the Dandy, don't know if I really deserve it...LOL

Not sure what You mean about Romans,but Balzac talks about Breguet in Eugénie Grandet(and this Charles is everything of a miserable Dandy) and Le Père Goriot,but Filip talks about Russia:Pushkin's Eugene Onegin....

Nobody hopefully "deserves" to be called a Dandy,Nicolas,they were a mean and miserable kind of people,hard-hearted and selfish,vain,superficial spoilt aristocrat-children as Charles and Delphine in  Balzac's and Onegin in Pushkin's novels.

As a matter of fact,the frequently cited great poets of the 19th century rarely quoted Breguet-owners as nice people :-(

Charles in Eugénie Grandet is a revolting dandy,poor Père Goriot's daughters are devils like King Lear's offspring,Danglars in Dumas' novel is a corrupt banker,Onegin in Pushkin's verse drama is everything but likable and Becky in Thackerey's famous story is an awful person indeed.

Let us contemporary Breguet-owners be better exaples of humans than them ...

So the automatic Tradition is for me an heresy, the tradition is a prototype of basical manual cheap "montre à souscription" in the time of AL Breguet (end of 17XX years), so the "soucription" is a kind of leasing...

I'am sure that you can explain me the History of the "Souscription" better than me, cause my english is worst than you Borat.

WEll, the Automatic version of the Tradition is not my favourite, but the rotor is nicely shaped " à l'ancienne ".

I too think that the manual version is more coherent with what was the Tradition, but I have to admit and confess that I also have to work a bit on Automatic movements and their History...

So things may be more complicated than they seem to be.

Hi Amanico : please, think as A.L.Breguet........Have you seen this mainplates, bridges etc. in silver colour in my watches ? nooooo.
For me is most accuracy the yellow golden version than the white gold version......but if you feel good with these........ok.

Seriously, for once in my life, I considered the YG version exactly for the reasons you wrote...

But, as I said, the WG adds something very special to this watch, a kind of modernism, something you don't expect on such a watch, indeed...

But the Tradition is here, although...

A very nice compromise, IMO.

This blend is really stunning, so now I can say that resistance is futile.

I was not decided during these last 2 years...

Do you imagine???

We have talked on and off about the La Tradition in different metals for some months and I am pleased to hear you have finally made your decision. I agonised over the same things for more than a year and, as you know, came down on the side of the YG, but there are no wrong decisions here. The journey is what is important and what will make the watch so memorable and such an important part of your collection. The WG and YG Tradition’s are like two different watches and I would be very happy to own either (or both!).

Fine points You mentioned here for the WG version,I never was able to make a conclusive decision between the YG anf WG version,slightly leaning towards the YG one,but the WG is the more contemporate looking one You are right,and not so much of a "bling".

An extremely fine timepiece for sure.

Thought about that piece for quite a long time myself...some time ago
