Breguet

current owners? anyone has a view on this watch, and or any ownership reports/reviews/comments?

I thought I would post you my comments.I have always been an owner of Patek Philippes and I have what I think is a good selection.The only other brand I have admired but never owned was a Breguet.On a visit to London a few weeks ago I went to the Breguet shop on Bond street and spent at least an hour with the very helpful sales assistant.Before I went in I had it in my head it would be a Tourbillon I would choose.I tried at least a dozen various models on my wrist but it was the 5447 I kept coming back to because of its look and overall dimensions.I went back to the shop the next day and went through the same exercise with a reduced number I had selected.Again the 5447 was the one I liked the most.I wanted a physically BIG watch and although the Tourbillon movement is nice to look at I like the mecanics of the minute repeater as without glasses my eyesight is not so good,so if I need to know the time in the dark I just listen to the chimes.I bought a platinum 5447 through a watch dealer I know and I cannot take it off my wrist.Visually it makes the Pateks look small and I am now a Breguet convert.So to answer your question the 5447 is a beautifully made and visually a distinctive and unique watch.

I share similar opinions to dbrown, in so far as I feel the 5447 is the absolute perfect size and proportion for a watch of this complication. In fact, it was this piece when announced in 1995 that pulled me in the Breguet direction, versus Patek and I am still a Breguet follower, first and foremost. The dial manages perfect harmony in (what should be) chaos, and the smooth but square shape cross sectional shape of the case is just right.
Feels wonderful on the wrist in size, weight and presence, while at the same time avoids being gauche in any way or form. This is to me the defining Breguet, and although it was certainly not may last, I have a feeling it will always be my favorite. Yes, I adore the 5447..
