This was interesting and a lot clearer than a lot of other reviews I've seen. I appreciate it.

Thanks.

Written in is such a genuine and comprehensive way. Thank you thank you thank you. Sadly it's probably sold out and/or we cannot try it on before ordering. I am so tempted to make sacrifices if available. Like you I wish the case was platinum, but don't mind the understated grey dial. I will be doing left wrist weights to qualify. Interestingly, this has renewed my interest in the double split. Wonder if other purists feel the same way. Bravo Lange and thanks again Fr.Xavier.

Kindest regards,

An amazing watch takes my favorite complication to a completely different level. I was wandering what they would do, and, once again, ALS did not disappoint. The aesthetics of both the dial and especially the movement are absolutely perfect, IMO.
My only complaint is the thickness, but I guess that could not be avoided in this case. I hope they find a way to make it slimmer.

Probably the 2018 Star... Brilliant Chronograph. Do you know any other chronograph which is a a double split?

 By: amanico : January 24th, 2018-00:08
The Double Split was a great chronograph, and, as far as I know, unique, the Triple Split tops it.

Remarkable.

Now, I would have loved or preferred to see a platinum case, as you said, with an enamel dial, to unveil this new chronograph. The WG / Grey dial, why not, but after.

The movement, nothing to say, except a concise WOW.

The only thing I would have changed is the location of the pusher for the rattrapante, and put it in the crown, for the balance of the whole watch.

Aaah, and I would have removed this power reserve subdial, it doesn't bring anything very interesting, for a watch of that level.

Thanks for the review, Fx.

Best,

Nicolas

The reining chrono. Beautiful and technical top notch.

My thoughts are: I would think that Lange is using one of their new, stronger mainsprings in order to increase pr.

Also I  have got the feeling it will come out as a steel model too, one day.

And finally: it is still a double chrono, like the first one, but (and this is a big but and shall not play down the achievement) with the added split of 12 hours.

Best

I suspect ALS chose white gold to reduce the overall weight of the timepiece, platinum coupled with the size was considered to be too much of a risk and would attract criticism, so ALS probably played it safe. I also suspect they are saving the platinum version for a Hunderskunt. Plus they probably want to differentiate the triple split from the double split and create enough variation to entice double split owners.

Another “con” which ALS managed to somewhat mitigate is the clasp, which is similar to the one used on various larger models including the Turbograph. It is an engineering marvel and incredibly comfortable to wear. All my larger Patek Grand Complications are less hefty and do not feel as comfortable on the wrist as some of the larger and bulkier ALS timepieces using a clasp. I truly find it more comfortable to wear than any other timepiece I own, even the original 39mm datograph!!
