Issues with Zeitwerk
Always interested in the Zeitwerk. To me it is a must have model in every Lange collection (apart from Lange 1 and Dato). I do noticed some issues regarding some early models has “sudden” jerk move of the minute plate and the watch stop for no reason...etc. Want to hear owners opinion and share your experiences on these issues before I acquire it. FYI I plan to get a second hand so what kind of things I should be aware. Thanks in advance much appreciated.

The minute discs are unlock at 56th second
from what I recalled. This unlocking results in slight movement of the minute discs before the jump at exactly 00 seconds. Is this what you mean? If yes that is normal.
I have not heard of any issues of the watch stopping suddenly.
But it is an issue that is not important at all, it never bothered me.
It is hardly noticable.
That was an issue for some of the early production pieces...
...with the minute hand jerking or with it changing at seconds 57-59, but that is no longer the issue with more recent production models. My advice is, get a recent production used model, and ask the seller to send you a photo of the watch in motion.
As for suddenly stopping, I haven’t heard of that.

Even newer models have that solved now.
Once you send your watch in for service it will come back with the instantaneous jumping minutes- its a small adjustment that they are doing to any Zeitwerk that goes in for service in addition to new models.

The updated movement came in 2017. It is pretty easy to spot the differences on the caseback
New model shown below. They have been updating the movements as they come in for service. Also, I have not heard of issues or experienced any myself. Two weeks ago I visited the Zeitwerk department and had the opportunity to talk to some of the watchmakers. He said that the older movements cannot be updated fully as the changes are to big. The new movement arms the remontoire 30 sec prior to the jump. This is not visible from the front, so no prejump.
Can you share a video of the jumping discs on the watch with the new movement?
I have not heard of any updates from Lange regarding this. The old Zeitwerk has instantaneous jumping seconds. I believe one of the original post starter's concern was the minute disc unlock at 56th sec marker. Lange official site still shows the minute disc unlocking at the 56th second marker.
At the mean time I got curious and checked some Zetiwerk Date videos, and wow no minute disc movement, so they did some upgrades. Curious to know if the later normal Zetiwerks really don't have the minute disc "shake".

Hi. I don't have the watch in my house right now. Sleeping in the safe deposit ;-) but I will send you a video when I pick it up again ;-). The Lange website does not show the correct movement for the regular Zeitwerk. They are aware, but apparently not an easy fix. The new catalogue will come out in May aprox so may it will show the update.

Hi guys I am kinda looking for a Zeitwerk (or striking time). And I only became aware about the movement update yesterday.
So from the sound of it, any model after 2017 should equip with the updated movement. But in case I am looking for a preowned one. How can you tell the difference from the caseback?
Or worst scenario, ALS will update it once I send it in for service?
