Rotor noise with new Saxonia Automatic
Hi Guys, new to this site and recently acquired a Saxonia Automatic Terra Brown. The rotor noise is quite loud and I could distinctly hear it when I move my wrist. Is this normal? Thanks a lot for your advice. Here is a poorly taken photo of the watch. Love it but a bit disturbed by the noise!

I wonder if Lange, a sister company to JLC, is using JLC’s ceramic ball bearings for the rotor.
Rotor noise on recent JLC’s is also quite loud.
I’m going to bring my in to the AD to compare against other Lange automatic movements to see if my is unusually loud. Did you try comparing with other JLCs? [nt]

Yes, two of my modern JLCs with ceramic ball bearings have pronounced rotor noise.
One is louder than the other due to a sapphire case back.
I think JLC made a mistake here is using these noisy ceramic bearings. Noisy, rattling bearings do NOT speak to a precision mechanism, even if the end result is lower wear. Definitely not my preference.

If your interest is to look for the root cause... Get your watch to ALS & ask - don’t waste time in comparing different watches, it doesn’t mean anything.
If it is an issue, for sure ALS will bring the best solution for you.

...that’s a great looking Lange. I’d not noticed it previously.
I’m sure Lange will answer your question, hopefully to your satisfaction. Noise and wobble on rotors is as not uncommon feature, neither very desirable but prevalent across all price points I think.
