Lange & Sohne Datograph 1999 or 2012?
The 2012 version has a longer power reserve, a bigger case and a very different dial.
But the Datograph from 1999 remains my favorite, still. A better balanced dial, less empty, purer. And 39 mm works very well for me, as well.

I like the II, IV, X on the original.. and the newer power reserve indicator breaks the dato triangle..
But the original is too TOP heavy..

Original looks better but 36hr PR is a problem for me...
This is also the same for their Datograph Perpetual, which otherwise will be my choice to compete with the 5270/5970s.
Also I believe you need a deployant for this Dato or it will not wear well.
The 1815 WG I have is already quite heavy so I can imagine wearing these Datos will cast a print of my wrist 
Well, I find the pin buckle more comfortable, at least on my wrist. Yes, the power reserve is really short, but it will give you the pleasure to use the crown, which is a real pleasure. 5-0 for the original. [nt]

Personally I don’t think the original dial aged well. The romans being the main offender.
That’s what pushed me to the Up/Down despite the larger size.

Hands down the original for me.
It still remains one of my all time favorite watches. That this time around will not leave my collection.
