Yes,Lange cleans the movement patina away as I also saw after the service of my Datograph.

Thanks ! It has a different charm

Epic! A movement as beautiful as that should shown to the world, for artistic purposes, of course. :)

To me, this is what makes Lange, Lange.

Same sentiments !

Basic servicing! What was the wait time?

 By: aperna : April 27th, 2025-15:31

Around 6 months :)

I wounder is there is some way to prevent the patina in the first place, maybe plating it in some sort of noble metal or something... 🤔

 By: AndCavanaugh : April 28th, 2025-02:08

Probably . But part of the charm

 By: jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) : April 28th, 2025-06:41
Is the patina slowly forming smile

Glad you got it back, Robin!

 By: CR : April 28th, 2025-02:47
Sadly, the patina always disappears when Lange cleans and services the movement. No way to keep it.

I hope you have it for a long time before it needs servicing again!

May I ask, was there a problem that led you to send it in? Or was this (hopefully) preventative maintenance?

Thanks CR!

 By: jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) : April 28th, 2025-06:41
I sent it for regular maintenance . smile

Robin, what a stunningly gorgeous movement!

Yes, patina on the German Silver movement is usually a casualty of Lange's cleaning process of the disassembled movement plates. Lange will, however, keep your watch case as-is by default - I have seen some early YG lances where the patina on the case is absolutely stunning and you wouldn't want to lose that.

Again: thrilled for you that you have your Datograph Perpetual back - and good as new.

Thanks for sharing on the case patina :)

So far I haven’t seen any on my white gold case on the Dato perpetual .

My rose gold Lange 1 has some patina and yes it remains on the case smile

Thank for sharing this grail piece, Robin. I think it will be difficult to retain the patina on the caliber after the CLA. On the positive side, it looks like brand new now, and I like it. Cheers, Henry
