Hi Tim,
sure you´re welcome!

(english version available once you´re past the introductionary flash movie)
In a nutshell, as far as i know the movements for the "Chronometerwerke" range are reported to be propietory developments and produced in cooperation with Nomos of Glashütte. Whether or not ALL movement parts are made in Germany is beyond my knowledge and at least the "Zeitmeister" units run on ETA movements encased in Glashütte.
The Observatory (owned by WEMPE) actually does timing tests, but there´s a part of the production/assembly inside as well.
I´ve only seen one model of the "Chronometerwerke" for a very short time, so i don´t feel properly equipped and qualified to comment on the built and finish merits.
But i think it´s safe to say it´s different from other "Made in Germany" brands and Wempe seems to focus on good quality with the more elaborate "Chronometerwerke" range.
Hope this helps a bit?
Cheers,
Peter

I bought the wempe worldtimer yesterday. That company is impecably first rate. I usually would hesitate to buy a "store" brand. But i finally made the decision to go for it since the product, the store, and the company in general was a top pure pedigree. The feel, the make, and the quality of the watch is fist class. I think that for the $-amount they charge for, the product is well worth it. My other world timer is the Patek 5110R. I was saying to myself why would I want another world timer when I already have the best one. Well, the answer to that was the date. As you know the 5110 has no date function, I could never understand why. So for me this would be a good part of my travel attire; since my point of reference is my home state anyway. I always feel wierd removing my watch and letting it go thru that xray machine in the airport, so the Wempe WT would be a lot less stressful for me when I have to take it off
As far as its timing rate/ accuracy is concerned, i would have to get back to you on that. The finish of the watch, the alligator strap, the overall presentation, is very very good. Also, one very important thing to mention is if you happen to have a small wrist, the strap comes in the small size, w/c happened to be perfect for my small wrist. As far as aesthetics and feel...it has that very stern, mechanical, and precision feel and look to it that these German watches tend to have. It definitely doesn not feel Swiss. However, it looks and feels like a very substantial watch, even if you are not a watch connoseur you may find people taking notice. Overall I am very pleased with the purchase and I would highly recommend it as a very useful tool, especially if you travel a lot , conduct business globally, or a WT watch collector.
