A. Lange & Söhne

I recently came upon a beautiful Lange 1 as part of a "pre-owned" inventory in a major high-end retailer but haven't been able to locate the model in any internet searches. It looks like a Lange 1A in that it is guillocheted but rather than the 100 production examples of the limited ed. Lange 1A that was made in gold this watch was platinum (both case and face). The date plates also matched the platinum/gray face and were not the traditional white plates. Any help in identifying this watch would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi , the watch I think you refer to is model number 112049. It was made in a limited edition of 100 pieces for sincere watches . The case is indeed platinum but the dial is 18 ct white gold not platinum. I have this model which i purchased new in 07 and still love.

in Boston this weekend.  I've never seen one in the flesh before, but as the other poster mentioned, the watch is part of a limited edition for Sincere of Singapore.  I  wanted to know if it had the boxes and paperwork, but didn't want to bug the salesman.

 

 

 

The Lange 1A has concentric rings (guilloche) inside seconds track and inside the hour/minute track, and also larger concentric rings around the rest of the dial. It's the same pattern that Lange uses in the standard production mother-of-pearl guilloche models. Here's a really bad pic I took about 7 years ago:



The Sincere model has similar rings inside the seconds and hour/minute tracks, but it has vertical stripes, of varying widths, adorning the rest of the dial (unless we're talking about another Sincere model that I'm not recalling -- quite possible!).

Thank you all for your insightful responses. Indeed the watch I saw was in Boston while I was there for a family wedding. I wouldn't expect to see a watch that beautiful in Toronto Canada.

Unlike senort75 I did bug the salesman but didn't get as far as box and papers.

Henry you are one lucky watchowner to have this in your collection.

CR you are quite right, the watch in question has vertical stripes in addition to the guilloched circles.

Would any of you know what the real world value of this piece be in terms of new (at the time in 2003) vs. private used (today) vs. the retail and thus marked up value of big-box retailer like the one in Boston? I am new to AL&S and wouldn't know if the $25K price tag is reasonable or not?
