Is this a 1815 pt? I never knew lange made a LE for the 1815 b/f it was discontinued. Or is this another model? Am I missing something? Thanks.
that was released at SIHH 2009.
The previous 1815 in Platinum had no L/E to it, but this new one is released in an L/E of 500 pieces.
For your info the case diameter is 40mm, and the movement is a new one entirely made by Lange ( as opposed to the older one which had Jaeger parts in it, and was 35.9mm )

Could you share with me your opinion of the 2 watches above? I have a hard time picking 1 from the 2 to acquire. They look too similar to pick a favourable one. Thanks.
How about a look close-up?

This is the RL in Platinum. It has centre seconds, as oppsed to the 1815 which has a sub-seconds dial. This movement was created for the sole purpose for supreme rate accuracy, and has a gyromax style balance wheel to assist in that. The numbers as you can see are Roman. the size is at 40.5mm.

This Little Prince here, well the movement is new, and was created especially for this model. I have only acquired it and thus i cannot comment on accuracy. But it is a beauty nonetheless.

what I meant was that they look quite the same in character. I didn't know the story behind the RL's movement. Thanks for sharing that. So it was created soley for time keeping accuracy? Was it used in other models of Lange? Talking about time keeping accuracy, the RL PLM is also known for that right? A notch or 2 higher in that respect.
Bottom time of my dilemma is I think the RL pt and the 1815 pt are in the same character and same price range (I think right) so I have a hard time picking one I desire more.
BTW, I kind of expected you also own the RL pt before you took that pic. Thanks.
Thus the movement found in the RL is unique, and not implemented in any other model.
The RL PLM was also created for even greater accuracy, but no comments on that yet as I just received mine and is undergoing tests.
They are totally different again i reiterate, the 1815 isn't so much for accuracy, (although it might turn out to be hell accurate) , but is more of a design homage to the pocket watches as envisioned by Ferdinand Adolf Lange.
Price wise, the RL is higher by about $10,000 here in Japan.
My RL has been with me for 2 years plus now, and it is still one of my favourite watch.

A pix of the RL movement and the 1815 movement

You could wear the watch with the movement side up!
And it would be perfect!

Besides the railway track minutes scale and the arabic numerals, this piece really resembles the RL PLM, especially when the size is only 0.5mm difference.
It has it's own beautiful and highly deserved character.
About the strap, i'll PM you.

Most excellent! Wear it well and enjoy.
This i intend as a daily, good huh?

Hey, watches are my 1st passion, you know that pretty well!
Yea, you must remember the 1st time i brought you to Kosugi san's place yah, hehe
This 1815 is planned to be my daily, and the RL PLM for those extra special occasions, weekends, and when i feel like it! ( Which frankly should be all the time, but it is fragile!)
No problems with wondering which watch to wear, at the end of the day when all is said and done, i believe I am very much pure German watchmaking, and i find that I should not be spending my hard earned money on " nonsense", but only on those which will last.
When are you coming again mate?
Cheers
