It is absolutely perfect in every single aspect.
I may be biased though, because i own it!
Stephen

PS: Say hi to your 1815.
. The PLM is a dream.
Oliver,
Great job here elaborating the RL family.....
And the best part is co relating to the fundamental society now.....
Thanks.

And indepth report.
Although, not my favourite model.
I did learn more about the differences between them.
a gentleman of your caliber Oliver.
Fantastic post and beautiful writing...most of all interesting and clear.
Still dubious about the RH,even though I appreciate the technical feature and stunning caliber.
I might sound unpopular here but there is something about the PLM that never convinced me.Its a tad too cold for me,again I appreciate what it stands for,but I would spend that money elsewhere.....(I would buy the ZW Phantom in a heartbeat).
Agree with you on a black dial RL....Iwould go for it if available.
Overall the classic RL remains my favourite.
Thanks again.
Yours,Mo.
Would you be so kind as to explain what you find about the RL PLM being "too cold"? This is definitely a first that I have heard!
I would love to know!
Thanks for sharing!
Stephen
I mean, objects, and in this case watches give emotions as you well know.
The RL PLM is definetely a incredible watch, coveted by many, desired because of its technical merits and incredible finesse(chain and fusee, perfect finish, enamel dial an on and on...).
But for me understatement sometimes steps into coldness. This is the case with ALS,the definite "German" approach to their creations leaves me cold at times and not enough....excited....
Every brand has its own forte:VC is the most romantic,Patek the safest,Rolex the sturdiest,Jaeger the most changing......Lange the most "German"...with its merits(incredible finish and tech aspects)and demerits(not visually exciting enough).
Then they hit back with incredible punch in the guts like the Dato or Zeitwerk...and I am taken again....
I ve touched the RL PLM in a couple of occasions ad I didn t get the emotion I was expecting from such watch of that category, maybe my build up to it was too high maybe because it was "THE WATCH TO LOVE IF YOU LIKE WATCHES",,.....and me like you like a bit of controversy.....
When I handled the ZW for example it was love, lust, desire in one second.....
there you go...emotions,personal emotions...I am sure that a determined person like yourself undrstand what I am talking about......
Yours,Mo
And i would like to thank you for lending me an insight into your thoughts of my most beloved.
Nothing wrong i see there with what you think about it, just personal emotions, and i like that!
Well, i hope that you will get the Zeitwerk of your dreams one day, because it is a watch that i think deserves more!
Have a wonderful start to the week!
Stephen
With the ZW is a little tricky as Ilove the WG version but a certain luminous is hounting me a lot.....it is almost impossible to get and will require a big big econimic effort......we'll see....
Have a good start of the week too.....
Mo
You can do it!
I have faith and confidence in you!
Stephen
Lange has been ticking in my head since I discovered your 1815 in Paris! I visited the Lange booth at the Salon Belles Montres last Sunday in Paris and got the opportunity to see more of these beauties in the flesh. I think these are the ultimate in modern watches, especially for the level of finishing of the movements. The smoothness of the Chronos is also unmatched!...I am more attracted by vintage watches but if I was to buy a high end modern watch it would be a Lange. It is just not for the short term unless I win at the lottery, but I don't play!...
Enjoy the beautiful pieces you own and thanks for making us dream...maybe one day the dream will come true!
Matt

Oliver for your great post. It seems that you had time over the weekend 'cause your family left you home allone
For my taste also the PT ist still my all-time-favourite (and as you said "white is the new black"...I don't miss the black dial)
regards
Stephan
And i would vote with confidence and would definitely like to see Lange attend the Chronomètrie 2011 either with a presently existing piece such as the RL PLM, or create from the grounds up a unique piece just for the competition.
Danke!
Stephen
and I have to say the Pour le Mérite is my favorite with the old school charm and new world technology...amazing with that 16cm chain...WOW...
what great pieces...simple, elegent and amazing...
thanks for the write up! great work!
And maybe a pix to help you sum it all!
