I especially like pictures 3 and 5.... they really show the details of the dial which I find most pictures miss.

I know I don't post here very often, but I try to post only interesting stuff... and I work a lot, so I just can't spend much time posting here, even if I would be happy to do it more often...

...actually got me slightly off as the luminous hourmarker at 6 does not line up with the 30-minute marker. As I being too anal here?

Not at all.  Over the years I've learned when buying such pieces to alway carry my very best loupe and flash light, give the dial a good 10-20 min+ inspection checking for alignment issues to scratches; the latter is easier with the flash light to allow a play of light.

Stunning pictures ! Of course the watch itself is gorgeous, but you managed to get the best of it with your pictures : lighting, contrast, perfect game with the depth of field... : huge congrat's.

I wish I can manage to capture the best out of my watches as you did : my watches are not ugly, my camera and lenses are supposed to be good (D7000) but the result is sooooo far from yours, it's not fair !

Jacques, could you care to elaborate your photography technique i.e camera, lens, lighting technique, use of light box etc

I took these photos with a Canon 60D and a standard Canon macro 2.8 100mm lens. And even if it's some good gear, with this set and the previous one for the 1815 UP/DOWN, I started to think I could be better with more professional camera and lens. So I just recently bought a 5D markIII and a canon macro 100mm 2.8 L lens, so hopefully my next  set should be a little better... we'll see... ;-)

These pictures look perfect to me with spot on exposure and superb DOF; inspirational indeed!!

The bigger sensor on the 5D by virtue of size gives a thinner DOF which will be counterproductive in macro 

No, I didn't perform focus stack... I've never tried this technique... I should, I know, at least to understand how to do it properly and see the result...

Even if the watch doesn't have the same magic than the original Datograph, it remains a superb chronograph, one of the top high horology ones.
