You would get a fantastic duo of PC&Chronograph watches but I also like to not have similar complications. The Datograph Up&Down in this context is in my opinion more complementary with the Patek.

In any case: no wrong decision... both Lange are superb watches.

As Fx, I would have said the PC-Chrono themed collection is interesting but I personally prefer to take it from a diversification angle.

Thus, I would privilege the Dato Up Down.

But this is very personal.

Either way, you will have some "similar" complications since all the watches are chronos.  This is one decision where the idea of "diversifying" the collection is not terribly relevant, but there is a big difference in the watches under consideration.  You will love the Dato perp. I would take this all day compared to the Dato (and if was going to buy a Dato, I would take the old version).  For your cost/complication//return-on-investment/enjoyment ratio, a pre-owned Dato perp will have a big advantage.

The 5970 is the unsurpassable King here (IMO).

The DatoPerp is a nice piece, especially from the movement perspective (an understatement, I know), but the dial aesthetics have always left me cold, whereas the 5970 embodies just about everything I would desire in a classic yet modern perpetual calendar chronograph.

For a similar trade/price, I'd think you could scout out a Lange Doublesplit, which is a magnificent piece, truly unique and would add some real diversity to the 5970 without falling short of that piece (as does the DatoPerp IMO).

but the dato looks a bit big on your wrist. the 5970 though looks perfect. its a watch i would like to own one day.
the dato perp is ok but i tend to side with the others when they say diversity in a collection.
you already have the best perp-chrono watch, and the best chrono only watch.
maybe a world timer? or something like a perp watch? the langematik perpetual is a nice one

The DP is the outstanding. In my eyes, it is a much more modern interpretation of a PCC. The 5970 is gorgeous too and worthy of keeping. But the DP is completely different in looks both from the front and back. Furthermore, in my eyes, the Lange's movement on the DP blows the 5970 out of the water. I never tire of looking at high end ALS movements (The Double Split I can stare at all day). The Datograph is quite nice too. However,  the DP is an upgrade that is well worth it!
