WristScan for April the 13th - ‘Watches you have received as a present’ - is live and go!
While we often - or mostly - tend to be the main drivers behind our horology hobby, many of us get supported in this by our significant others, parents, friends, siblings, children, scary strangers (it is Friday the 13th after all)...
First my Breitling Aerospace that I have gotten from my parents as a graduation present. Been my daily wear watch for about ten years after. It may not have a high horological value but in terms of an emotional one - priceless to me.
Next up an IWC Porsche Design Ref. 3520. Not a heirloom or anything such. Just a very kind relative seeing it for sale and getting it for me, since I like watches. Very much appreciated, too.
Last but not least, my Junghans Mega Milano that I have received as a birthday present some years back. As a kid I was absolutely smitten by the Junghans Mega 1, and while that dream remained unfulfilled, I got this many years later. I do not wear it that often but cherish it greatly.

A gift from my son....
Over the years, I have received a watch from my wife and a watch from my son. I have posted the one from my wife before. So, now I post the one from my son. He bought it for me for a Father's Day gift.
I have to say, I am not really a Speedmaster type of collector, but this one would last beyond any Patek or Rolex in my collection. Yep, having a son was the day that I started to understand the world.

And I agree 100% with your sentiments. You're never truly a grown up man until you hold your own child and realize that from now on, you are fully responsible for his/her life.

....it changes perspective. Suddenly there is a person who comes first in every instance regardless of scenario.
In some ways, a scary prospect at the same time :)
It truly does change life for sure and even if it is a spectacular feeling it adds worry and a certain thoughtfulness that few people without children acquire
I guess every stage has its merits...
And while we - possibly naively - simply hope for sleep, on some level I know that new stages will bring new ‘challenges’ to be mastered

Yes, I find the dial to be the most interesting part of the watch. The case size is also interesting, as it is around 42mm.

As a gift? I received 6 in my whole life. This one is certainly one which moved me the most. Lecoultre Polaris 1965, the vintage.
