WS for the 1st of November - hunting - is go...
As every hunter worth their weight in stuffed boar will know, starting early is essential to hunting success 😉
Starting with the Minerva Pythagore. It was both Livius‘s superb pictures as well as seeing Ádám‘s live during my first live GTG with another Purist that did it for me. Took a while till I found it - and on the day I was made moderator I got it 😁
The P15 is related. Ádám and me discussed a Club watch during that meeting and I have done my utmost in pestering everyone who would and wouldn’t listen that making one would be a great idea. And the team that did it made a spectacular job of it. My hunt for it was also quite long. Committed from the start, I had to back out, as the tax authorities decided to interfere. Then finally, when most were delivered and my pecuniary situation improved, I managed to bag one of the final ones.
The Doxa Searambler is perhaps not one that’s exceedingly difficult to get but it took me years of lusting after one before I pulled the trigger. One of the few brands available during my childhood, it had a pull all of its own, on top of its undoubted rational attraction.
And finally my Vacheron Constantin 1972 Prestige de la France. A grail watch for so long. When it came into my cross hairs earlier this year I pulled the trigger straight away.
The theme for the WS this week, as announced, is hunting. I believe most of you will have stories of prolonged stalking of a specific ‚prey‘, of it appearing suddenly in front of you, of pieces that keep on eluding you... whatever your story, a couple of words next to the picture would be appreciated.
As always the WS will run till Sunday 17.00 GMT and judging in the three regular categories - WS, Static and WotW - will take place in a separate post.

... We usually say that every watch in our collection has an story behind and you demonstrate here that this is absolutely true.
The hunting and capture experiences of certain pieces are specially thrilling as you tell us here. I´m sure we will be viewing some awesome watches and reading some interesting stories through the week end.

The story of my life... Most of the watches I got were the outcome of a long hunt.
I just posted this one and the story behind:
The 6542 is another one which took me a loooong time before getting it.
There are some others which have a special story, such as this one, which I bought in 2008 or 2009,
Which I traded in order to get that one, which was in better shape with a splendid tropical dial...
But which was stolen to me in 2011...

Hunting is the true essence of our sport ...
This subject immediately makes me think of the ones that got away !... I can however share some of the ones that I stalked and then bagged over the years... 
The Hublot “All Black” produced less than 250 as Hublot had difficulties with production at the start of the Big Bang craze. To cut a long story short, I travelled across Europe hunting it down...
The Anniversary Submariner was a similar story ending in a phone call with an AD and then jumping in a car and racing across the country to get it before anyone else ...
Finally the Breitling 806 “Black”... I looked for years for a good one that still had a sharp “beads of rice” bezel, original hands and a great patina...
