And the shirt a tribute to NATIONAL DAY WEEKEND.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE !!
Well, It is Sir Gentra who is no doubt in designed the first high end steel sport watch Royal Oak Jumbo in the 70s. But i think posting a old series Royal Oak watch would then be a really true tribute. The one posted is a modern Royal Oak, it may looks the exactly the same except for mininal differencel but the value and meaning is totally different. Just like panerai before and after Richmont days. Just my 2cents. Cheers.
Interestingly Gerald Genta, the man, was involved with a number of iconic designs in the 1970’s, some of which, like the Royal Oak, are clearly credited and others where the links are more obscure. These include the Patek Philippe Nautilus, the Bulgari-Bulgari for Bulgari and I think some IWC and Vacheron Constantin designs. The man is now no longer directly involved with Gerald Genta, the company, but designs watches for his own company, Gerald Charles. Designers were not as lauded in the past as they perhaps are today.

I just came across this more detailed discussion on Mr Genta’s contributions which you may find interesting. Unfortunately some of the photobucket links have been lost

it must have been one of the first watches he designed and it is a true classic.
