I have a 118E in my collection...

I've added a few Panerai but these quickly leave the collection in favor of the old school 118.

I have a good dose of PAMs in my collection (too many both as a proportion and in absolute terms).

But I think I fell for them precisely because I began with "simpler" dials and certainly with straps...never bracelets...

Try a 172 on and you will certainly find it easier to explain why so many of us have this "craze" about OP.

. . . Baron stretched it to include the one(s) we would part with if push came to shove.  

. . . which really doesn't fit into my comfort zone (vintage Omega and modern Glashütte).  If you ask the same question next year, chances are this'll be the one that left my collection.

as we grow old,we change,refine,re-change our tastes…

but in this case it's a bit more complex as Mike's theme has caused a great dilemma.

In 2013 I flipped like there was no end, on my impossible quest to the perfect watch (yes, I know that this don't exists).

2) GP. Sometimes I cannot resist an offer. 

3) The best home time I ever had. I miss it, but the trade was irresistible. 

4) Wonderful watch but it was ridiculous on my skinny wrist. 

And the list goes. No regrets, only a little sad to say the last goodbye. 

My record in returns is my Sinn U2.

.. but this was my THIRD, yes I repeat, the THIRD Dato PT.  It's gone this year.  Stayed with me, again, quite a short while.

Why?
- Top heavy and hurts wrist after a day of wearing.  The only reason.  And I don't like PG version....

Am I stupid to do it three times with the same result?  Yes, I think I am.  Way stupid.  While I love Lange, and I DO love Dato as an icon, but wearing comfort is not there for my smallish and skinnish wrist.  So sorry to let it (or them) go, but that is life.....

. . . there's the story of our mutual friend, Scott D, who managed to buy a watch (2004 Seamaster) from a private seller that turned out to be the very same one he had sold a few years earlier to another party.  

... there is also a saying that "what goes around comes around"....  whatever it means, hehehe...

Thx for sharing with this nice shot, which shows again - as several have pointed out
( eg Nilo..) that in the end one route will prevail
- either because of a "better target", or because of boredom,
or because we realize our error, small or big, or because of another stronger love (?)..

Finally, the issue of (re-)financing a certain piece may require some
patchwork behaviour, regarding others in the box.
- Again, the decision criterion may be totally different for an individual, but the
result, ie departure, may be alike..

This theme here, is also quite interesting meanwhile,
as it highlights the differences but also the common denominators
for reasoning and acting ( lead by the brain or by the heart, or..
- by sheer coincidence and fuzzy logic,
- which, per se might be different for many of us.

All that for seasoned collector, passionate hunter ( but not keeper),
but also relative newbies, who are in other " phases" of their
"development", determining behaviour when collecting.
