It is the standard release Masterpiece Chronograph.
The custom/ in-house movement design was a collaboration between ML and Andreas Strehler.
Its got a nice dial design ( at least I enjoy it a lot). The little dots of lume and the lumed chrono hand shine bright so the chronograph and be used at night.
The elapsed second hand is mounted on a 300 teeth center wheel (thus being able to record down to 1/5 of a second). And because the teeth is so small, the center wheel is actually produced at MIMOTEC using UV-LIGA
I agree. Maurice Lacroix has always been a really good

brand with their complications. I think they took a little breather after their attempt to move upstream didnot go as well as they had hoped with Memoire 1. At least now they are vertically integrated with a varied collection of mechanical watches.
Fingers crossed on both hands the next-gen Railmaster comes equipped with a dateless version.
While I have a few interesting movements in my collection, the most attractive is one I let go of.
Hamilton cal 921, ensconced in an RGM 222. If only the watch carried the same gravitas as the movement . . .

I don't know an awful lot, but I read a few things here and there.
From the catalogues I have, the Ref 2499, which is the two subdial Chrono without date of the more common Cambre Carree 2498 always appears only with the white dial. So far, every 2499 with black dial was a Sultan of Oman commission. I only have seen one or two in Japan on offer that seemed to have a standard caseback, but I cannot be sure. However, often Japan gets different dial versions, something I have seen on other GP models, so quite possible.
The Sultan of Oman special commission is something that seems to have happened a few times, not only with GP. I'm aware of at least one Patek and I think even some others. I understand the Sultan of Oman is ordering a batch of watches with his coat of arms to give them away to government employees or military officers. What a nice dictator.
So I'm waiting for my Three-Golden-Bridges Angela Merkel commission. Bugger, I don't work directly for the government... on the other hand if I consider all the taxes I'm paying then I do work for the government
