Can look mighty sexy on a man smile

But you are right about the watch. It can be very much cultural and personal.

Thank  you for your comments.

Diamond watches for men stand out too much

 By: docsnov : March 21st, 2013-19:08

in my opinion.  I like knowing I have a nice watch on but don't want or need everyone else to know I am wearing a nice watch.  I like your comment about the grand complication vs a diamond encrusted watch.  I too would go with the complicated watch given the choice.  I have seen some watches that have small diamonds as hour indicators with no stones on the case, bezel or clasp that look nice, but I still don't think I would wear a watch with any diamonds.  Too much bling is not a good thing smile

For some people, that's the idea...

....I think they want them to stand out. I tend to agree with you though...subtlety and intrigue can be much more appealing at times.

I meant to mention great article

in the March IW.  Always good to see a Purists expert opinion in traditional printsmile

Oh you saw it!

Thank you!

The best use of diamonds in men's watches is PP

with their discreet diamond set in platinum cases. It's not a particularly valuable diamond but a very nice touch.

This Ed. I totally agree with you, very subtle touch and yes....

I would very happily wear one of these! smile
Cheers. Francois

Discreet can be good in a men's watch...

...when it comes to using precious stones. It would almost be better to have the movement jewel encrusted...if that were possible. or diamond set caseback.

What about diamonds on the caseback?

 By: pingtsai : March 22nd, 2013-10:34
I didn't mention this in the article but just realized how cool it would be...like a surprise feature.
There are already rubies visible on many movements. What if they had a pavé 'd movement (if that were possible) or diamond rimmed caseback...instead of bezel? I could see more men possibly going for this.

Paved movements exist indeed

I don't mean I particularly like it, just "wow"

Because they are on a watch that I love

and FWIW, I don't find anything effeminate about this watch, not even slightly:

Having no shame, I would happily wear this watch

By THIS I mean the watch SteveG posted, and also the following piece

(from the old Purist site)

but I am pretty sure I would NOT wear this one.

Pink shirt and Pink watch together

I've worn this combination many times.

The first time got many stares but eventually people realised that I can be a pink sort of guy!  smile

Regards,

MTF

Very nice!

Too feminine?

Good read.... It got me thinking about a gift I bought for my husband back in 2011...

Honestly... Feminine?

Nice watch! As long as he likes it, that is all that matters smile

What about on me?

 By: jenjames : August 19th, 2013-19:49
Well I personally like the watch too much I went out to buy one more for myself...

Only to realize after a couple of weeks that it is just WAYYYYY too heavy for me as a daily beater! So I only wear it occasionally but my husband is a very seriously man so he no like the idea of a couple watch or anything couplely... I must get a couple his and hers combo wrist shot sometime...

Back to the watch... After the first week of daily wear.. Honestly I think it is too *man* for me! Not just the size, the extra broad bezel and especially the *weight* is seriously too much for me to handle! It is brutal and considering my daily beaters are are mostly 18k and one of my all time fav, the 116618...

In contrast, when he first saw the gift I got for him, he wasn't too sure if he will wear it cause he find the diamond setting with the soft baby blue dial looks very *fairy tale* theme but soon enough, it turns out to be his daily beater! I guess maybe because of the size of the watch and especially the weight, it is nothing soft and feminine about it. wink

Still looks nice...

But I can see how it would be difficult for a woman to wear, especially with the metal band. Larger watches are a little easier to wear with straps. Worked out that your husband likes it
